At the station
Finally! We are all in our seats and ready for our holiday at the coast. But … what a last minute stress: we almost missed the train!
We arrived on time at the station and the first thing we did was look at the departures and arrivals board to know which platform our train would depart from. Then, we looked for the ticket machine and bought our tickets.
We still had some time, so we took a walk around the station. We had a coffee and a chocolate bun and we finally headed to our platform: number 18. But, as we got there, we only saw a freight train. We started to get nervous: “Where is our train?”, we asked worriedly.
The information came over the loudspeaker: our train to Barcelona would leave from platform 8. There were only two minutes until departure, so we ran like the wind. When we arrived at the right platform, the driver was just about to start the engine. Luckily, the conductor was kind and waited for us.
Quickly, we went into the first carriage. Then the whistle sounded and the train started to move. Our seats were in the last carriage, so we had to walk through the whole train, even through the restaurant car.
Luck was on our side. Despite the scare we managed to not miss the train.
